The Big Read program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest includes a wide range of activities (including a special Dinner & a Movie class) centered on the book, “The Round House” by Louise Erdrich. Told through the eyes of Joe, a thirteen-year-old who recounts the rape of his mother many years later as the novel’s narrator, The Round House treads the liminal space between innocence and experience, the pursuit of justice and revenge, themes that will engage adult audiences from around the state. This trip is mostly subsidized by the UW Colleges American Indian Studies Program.
