Quilts as Art - A Retreat for the Modern Quilter image

Learn how to respond to light, water, sky and plant life. Step out of your comfort zone into the new area of creativity. The key to this process is experimentation. Over the course of three days, student will work on several studies learning to interpret the detail around them and from nature.
Join the UW Quilt Camp/Retreat to learn how to incorporate Contemporary Art into Quilts. Participants will create a series of unique, contemporary art quilts using a variety of fiber techniques. They will utilize the natural setting of UWSP Treehaven as their muse to create their pieces of art. Individuals will take photos in the natural setting of Treehaven and bring their favorite, nature photos to interpret. Participants will develop their creativity and grow as quilt artists. Class will include instruction in hand embroidery, watercolor pencils, beading and technique of thread painting. Registrants must know how to sew and operate and bring their own sewing machine. This retreat is appropriate for an intermediate sewist/quilter and/or fiber artist. A supply list will be required. Some supplies will be provided during the retreat. 

**Transportation to and from Treehaven in Tomahawk, Wisconsin is the registrants responsibility.
Camp/Retreat includes the cost of double occupancy overnight accommodations, meals and some classroom supplies.
